Deposited ZEC is held by the Zyn vault, a threshold account whose shares sit on separate machines. That is custody, and we say so: today you are trusting that vault to honour an exit, the same as any bridge. What you are not trusting is a website — the address is derived from your own key, what the ledger has issued against the vault is public, and an exit is a chain operation rather than a support request.
